Facilitate the coordination of food access programming, and maintain consistent communication between the three regional nonprofit organizations that comprise the Appalachian Accessible Food Network (AAFN): ACEnet (Appalachian Center for Economic Networks), Rural Action, and Community Food Initiatives (CFI).
Assist and support food access programming by helping process food in our shared-use kitchen, ensuring that there is enough produce for our distribution programs, supporting the local produce auction with management and staffing help, assisting with our donation-based farm stand (the Veggie Van), and assisting with our donation stand at the farmers' market.
Supervise and manage five seasonal AmeriCorps members who are serving in the summer food cohort; track hours and time served, coordinate farm visits and other learning experiences for the cohort, create weekly schedules, and make sure gaps in programming are filled.
Coordinate gleaning days with local farmers to divert potential food waste from local farms into our local food system. Hundreds of pounds of local food were saved this past summer and distributed through CFI's weekly distribution program.
Write, implement, and report on various grants that are supporting food access programming across the AAFN.
