I am currently a Junior at Westwood Regional High School and it feels great knowing that Senior year is approaching! I am currently seeking Summer employment that will allow me to continue through my last year in high school as part of my work based learning program. I would love to expand my knowledge and learn skills in the caregiver industry and hope to segway into the healthcare field in some capacity. I have decided to keep an open mind, and I'm not ready to narrow down a specific area of study just yet. What I am looking for is an opportunity to work in a real world environment and gain experience in a field that I intend to explore further after graduation in 2025. I would love to hear what positions you have available and I look forward to working alongside you. I have flexibility in my schedule to fit your needs and I will consider any openings you may have.

In August of 2022, I had an amazing opportunity to travel to Kitale, Kenya. My Grandmother sponsors and volunteers for the non-profit foundation The Mighty Acorns (MAF). Last Summer I was able to join her on one of two annual mission trips. After three airplanes and one long bus ride, I was in a world I never thought I would get to experience. For two weeks we spent time at the Seeds Children's Home learning about the children's daily lives and providing educational games, goals and lessons for the children. These children receive funds so they can live in a safe community with access to living necessities and positive role models to look up to. They also receive an education, go to church and learn daily living skills. MAF provides for them so they have an opportunity to become successful after they complete their years of schooling. I visited the slums of Kitale where The Seeds Children are born and raised. Families allow their children to leave the only home they have ever known, their families and what they know as normalcy in exchange for opportunity. The opportunity for education, safe shelter and daily meals. Mothers, Fathers and siblings are left behind in hope that their children will have a better life. With the funds we raised prior to the trip, we were able to hand out a truckload of food, clothing and everyday basic items of necessity. The Mighty Acorn Foundation changes children lives and gives people hope. This opportunity was truly a life changing experience and it changed my perspective of living as well. This was the first chance I had to be a part of a community and meet people I never would have otherwise. I was nervous about being far from home but, decided I needed to take a leap out of my comfort zone and trust Mama Denise and my Grandma. My Mom told me this was an experience of a lifetime and that I should do what my heart desires. I had the time of my life and I made friendships that will last forever. This foundation will always be a part of my life and I hope to have a bigger role as I get older and sponsor my own child one day!
