Isabelle Knapp

As an intern at Palmetto Academic and Cultural Teachers, Inc. (PACT), I assisted in the recruitment and support of international teachers participating in the J-1 visa program. PACT is a designated J-1 visa sponsor that places qualified teachers from various countries in K-12 public schools across South Carolina. My responsibilities included:

• Supporting the application process by reviewing candidate materials, coordinating interviews, and communicating with potential teachers
• Assisting with visa documentation and compliance procedures to ensure all regulatory requirements were met.
• Aiding in the organization of cultural exchange programs and orientation sessions for incoming teachers.
• Providing administrative support, including scheduling meetings and maintaining records for teacher placements and program monitoring.
• Collaborating with the PACT team to address the needs of teachers, schools, and government agencies to promote a smooth cultural exchange experience.

This internship enhanced my communication, organizational, and cross-cultural skills while giving me insight into the U.S. Education system and international recruitment.

I started out babysitting eight-hour days twice a week for a working mom and her two toddlers and baby. Now, I babysit for different families for date nights, while the parents worked, or to allow the mother to work with no distractions. As a babysitter, I:

• Maintained clean and organized living spaces throughout duration of babysitting responsibilities.
• Adapted to various family dynamics and preferences, ensuring a seamless babysitting experience tailored to each individual household''s needs.
• Developed strong rapport with families, leading to numerous referrals for additional babysitting opportunities.
• Created an enjoyable atmosphere during babysitting sessions through storytelling, games, and music.
