• Assists in identifying, repairing and installing signs, delineators, mailbox supports and posts; performs basic welding as needed; as required uses/moves equipment/tools, materials and products related to these activities.
• Assists in providing support to local law enforcement officials at accident sites; assists stranded motorists as required.
• Assists with traffic control; places and gathers cones, warning signs and barricades; flags traffic.
• Determines placement of traffic control devices and installs/moves devices.
• Maintains highways and rights-of-way; performs roadway repairs; erects and repairs guard rails, highway markers and signs; hauls materials and equipment to job sites.
• Maintains picnic and rest areas, rights-of-way, maintenance yards and comfort stations.
• Move/picks up litter and roadway debris.
• Mows rights-of-way and picnic and rest areas; performs plant and landscape maintenance including trimming trees and brush.
• Sands or cleans bridges and roads, posts warning signs, helps the public and performs other work as directed during emergency situations such as floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, snowstorms, accidents, and hazardous material spills.

• Loading and Unloading: Directing vehicles onto and off the ferry, ensuring proper spacing and blocking.
• Safety and Security: Operating safety gates and ramps, monitoring deck areas for security, and enforcing safety regulations.
• Passenger Assistance: Providing assistance to passengers, ensuring they understand safety procedures and stay in designated areas.
• Reporting: Reporting any observations, activities, or issues to the ferry captain.
• Equipment Maintenance: Conducting daily inspections of emergency equipment and ensuring it's in good working condition.
• Tying up and Letting Go: Performs tying up and letting go of the vessel, and rigging gangways.
• Maintenance and Housekeeping: Maintains the cleanliness of the vessel and its decks.
• Emergency Procedures: Participating in emergency drills and understanding procedures for various situations, such as man overboard, fire, and abandon ship.
• Galveston Ferry Deckhand is responsible for the safe and efficient loading and unloading of vehicles and passengers, as well as maintaining security and safety on the ferry.

• Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the parking lot.
• Assists customers when needed.
• Gathers carts from parking lot and return them to the cart station in the entrance the store.
