A Downhole Tool Hand in the oilfield plays a crucial role in aiding the rigging, deployment, and upkeep of downhole tools utilized in drilling and completion activities. This position entails preparing tools, overseeing inventory, and providing support for field operations. Additionally, they assist with training and troubleshooting, thereby enhancing overall efficiency and safety at the job site.

As a rig operator, my responsibilities include managing and executing tasks related to the maintenance, repair, and enhancement of oil and gas wells. This role is vital for extending the productive life of the wells while ensuring safety and operational efficiency. Key duties encompass operating and monitoring workover rigs and related equipment, performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on machinery and tools, ensuring the effective operation of pumps and other well service equipment, adhering to safety regulations, supervising and coordinating activities, documenting and reporting findings, troubleshooting issues, adapting to changing conditions, and working in diverse environments. Throughout my career as a rig operator, I have collaborated with prominent companies such as Chevron, ExxonMobil, OXY, Surge, ConocoPhillips, Shell, and Blackbeard.

In my role as a relief operator, I am required to operate autonomously without direct oversight. My duties involve overseeing floor hands and the Derrick hand, ensuring that tools are utilized in accordance with established procedures. Furthermore, I am tasked with ensuring my work crew is punctual, managing rig operations, upholding safety protocols, and supervising crew activities. I also have the responsibility of documenting and reporting in line with procedures, as well as providing relief to the primary operator.

In my capacity as a floor hand, I was tasked with managing drill pipe operations and the assembly and disassembly of rig equipment. Additionally, I prioritized the cleanliness and safety of operational tools, conducted inspections and maintenance, oversaw operations, supported well servicing activities, and worked closely with the safety and compliance team to enhance learning and development.
