Summary

Biology graduate with a strong academic record and demonstrated aptitude for thriving in collaborative settings. Extensive experience in real-time medical documentation, scientific research, and significant exposure to the workflow of the anesthesia care team (ACT) in the operating room. My experiences, combined with the team-based approach to ensuring patient stability and comfort during surgical procedures, have solidified my pursuit of becoming a certified anesthesiologist assistant.

  • Document HPI, assessment, and plan in real time during patient encounters
  • Enter laboratory, imaging, procedure, and specialist referral orders under provider supervision
  • Integrate outside EMR records to maintain accurate and comprehensive patient charts
  • Support providers in a high-volume outpatient primary care setting

Undergraduate Researcher

UNC Charlotte
05.2023 - 12.2024
  • Investigated post-translational modification (PTM) sites on heat-shock protein 70 (Hsp70). Hsp70 is a co-chaperone protein implicated in oncogenic signaling pathways
  • Conducted molecular biology experiments evaluating functional effects of post-translational modifications in yeast cells
  • Performed bacterial and yeast transformations, serial dilutions, and dual luciferase reporter assays
  • Projects focused on contributing to mechanistic studies aimed at identifying potential therapeutic targets in cancer

Peri-Operative Volunteer

UNC Rex Hospital
05.2022 - 08.2022
  • Prepared patient information packets for surgical visits
  • Recorded height and weight measurements for pre-operative documentation
  • Stocked and organized pre-surgical testing materials to maintain clinic efficiency

Anesthesia Shadowing

UH Cleveland Medical Center

Cleveland, OH  November 2025

  • Observed Tyler Grubb, a Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA), during a revision of a left total knee arthroplasty.
  • Observed the extensive preparation required before incision, including medication setup, airway equipment checks, IV placement, and anesthesia machine preparation, which highlighted the level of planning that occurs before the first drug is administered.
  • What was unique about this case was that the CAA and attending anesthesiologist had difficulty securing and troubleshooting vascular access and had to use ultrasound-guided intravenous access.

UH Parma Medical Center

Parma, OH  August 2025

  • Shadowed multiple CAA's over three days and observed a total of six cases.
  • The six cases observed were Hysteroscopy, Right Total Knee Arthroplasty, Total Aortic Valve Replacement, Laparoscopic Inguinal Hernia Repair, Laparoscopic Diaphragmatic Hernia Repair, and Right Third Toe Amputation.
  • Gained insight into the distinction between Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC) and general anesthesia, including how patients under MAC maintain spontaneous ventilation without intubation.
  • Learned the fundamentals of regional/spinal anesthesia during the knee replacement, including the technical challenges of spinal placement in patients with scoliosis.
  • Learned the purpose of arterial lines (A-lines) during cardiac procedures, which provide continuous, real-time blood pressure monitoring in high-acuity cases.
  • Observed the collaborative dynamic among CAAs, anesthesiologists, the perfusionist, and surgical teams during complex cardiac procedures.

UNC Chapel Hill Hospital

Chapel Hill, NC  June 2025

  • Observed Meng Chen, a Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA), during a kidney transplant case.
  • Gained insight about pre-operative anesthesia care planning, including reviewing same-day labs, past-medical history, medication allergies, and performing a brief physical exam on the patient before rolling them into the OR.
  • Witnessed the collaborative dynamic between the attending anesthesiologist and CAA during induction, including coordinated administration of propofol and endotracheal intubation.
  • Developed an understanding of how CAA's are constantly monitoring key physiological indicators, including blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, EtCO₂.
  • Meng explained the role of immunosuppressants in transplant cases. Immunosuppressant CAMPATH was administered continuously during the procedure.
  • Observed Meng extubate the patient and transfer the patient to PACU.

Campus Involvement

Magical Moments

Charlotte, NC 08/2024 to 05/2025

  • Magical Moments is a student organization focused on helping kids with facial deformities
  • As the secretary, I helped coordinate events, such as guest-speaker events, tabling events, fundraising events, and general body meetings.
  • Sent out monthly newsletters to members regarding events and opportunities to help set up events.
