The 25 hours shadowing Dr. Hiam Nhme was an fascinating learning experience as she was very passionate about her work and engaged in her environment at the Health Kids PLC. She would involve me in her interactions with patients so I would have a better understanding each patient visit. She had document and chart the majority of patients we saw together by teaching me how to take patient vitals including how to properly measure and record the length, head circumference and weight of infants. Additionally, I learned and assisted with lab work such as rapid strep tests and urea breath tests. I also observed Dr. Hiam in blood draw and vaccine administration. My time shadowing Dr. Hiam Nhme was valuable and very insightful into the career of a pediatrician.

Furthermore, since this was a smaller clinic I was able to help around the clinic by documenting and charting vitals and medical records for the love of the environment. I will always value my time at Dr. Shaker Haddad's office as it further intrigued my passion for pediatrics.

- My time as a volunteer at Karmanos Cancer Institution was memorable. I have 200 plus hours of volunteering at Karmanos and I was grateful for every moment. Here, as a volunteer, my job was to make patients feel as comfortable as possible. For new patients, I would give them a tour of the facility and go through a handbook that explains everything you need to know about Karmanos. For all patients, I would guide them to their appointment and answer questions to the best of my ability. Furthermore, volunteering at Karmanos, I was able to help with fundraisers and cool events around DMC. I also assisted any Karmanos employees anytime they needed a hand to stay busy. My time here was phenomenal and I am very thankful for every patient, employee, and all the other volunteers that I met and worked with.
