Work History

Patient Access Advocate

Genentech, A Member Of The Roche Group
10.2021 - Current
  • Process enrollments for free Genentech medications. Maintain a regional/dashboard current (within 48 hours) on a consistent basis. This contributes to faster enrollments and follow-ups and fewer delays for patients.
  • Collaborated with internal partners to launch the Non-English Preferred Team (Spanish Speaking Team) for the Genentech Patient Foundation. This team is committed to delivering the same high level of service to Spanish speaking patients across all therapy areas. This commitment helps reduce the inventory of Spanish-speaking cases and maintains them at an equitable level.
  • Continuously educating internal and external partners about the dedicated NEP team. This effort reduces workflow delays for enrollments, thereby decreasing the wait time for patients to receive approval status. Moreover, ongoing education has enhanced communication with healthcare professionals and patients, fostering greater trust in the foundation and minimizing delays in initiating treatment for patients.
  • Joined a health equity pilot program in collaboration with GPF and Texas Field Partners. Working alongside FRM and TAMs to visit healthcare professionals and non-profit organizations, our goal was to educate the community about GPF services and to listen to the community's barriers and concerns. Through multiple visits, the pilot program successfully built trust within the community and strengthened the relationship between the foundation and our field partners. I shared our learnings and feedback with the foundation through a Townhall presentation and was also interviewed for a Genentech-wide article.
  • Provided customer-focused reimbursement support in the Ophthalmology therapeutic area during the high-peak enrollment period. By explaining insurance benefits and available options/resources to patients and healthcare providers, I enabled patients to begin and maintain their treatments.
  • Participated in the launch of two products, Susvimo and Vabysmo. This involvement enabled me to directly offer the same high level of service and enrollment support to Spanish-speaking patients.

Patient Access Team Lead /Revenue Cycle Manager

Texas Oncology
02.2001 - 11.2019
  • Developed procedures for the Financial Assistance Department for a practice comprising of over 30 physicians across 15 locations. Guided patients through the entire grant process, including pre-screening, enrollment, and submission for grant/copay card reimbursement, for both local and nationwide patient assistance programs. This initiative increased annual revenue for the practice by over 10% and significantly reduced the financial burden on patients to pay their bills.
  • Conducted monthly follow-ups on receivables from Medicare, Medicaid, HMOs, PPOs, EPOs, Medicare Replacement Plans, Tricare, and Texas Worker's Compensation. Consistently maintained Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) below the company goal of 30 days, thereby increasing cash revenue for the practice and reducing prolonged claim denials.
  • Extensive interaction with vendors, clients, and in-house staff in order to maintain all accounts at or below organizational goals.
