my volunteer story

I first discovered my love for the ocean when I was a child, spending summers at the beach with my family. As I grew older, I became more aware of the environmental issues facing our oceans, particularly pollution and plastic waste.

After learning about the detrimental effects of plastic pollution on marine life and ecosystems, I knew I wanted to take action to help protect our oceans. That's when I stumbled upon LBCleanup, a local organization dedicated to cleaning up beaches and coastal areas in Long Beach.

I decided to volunteer with LBCleanup as a way to give back to the environment and make a positive impact on our oceans. The first time I joined a beach cleanup event, I was amazed by the amount of trash and debris that washed ashore. It was disheartening to see how much litter had accumulated on what should be a pristine coastline.

But as I worked alongside other volunteers, picking up trash and sorting recyclables, I felt a sense of purpose and fulfillment. Knowing that my efforts were helping to keep the ocean clean and safe for marine life gave me a renewed sense of hope for the future.

Since then, I have continued volunteering with LBCleanup regularly, participating in beach cleanups and educational events to raise awareness about ocean conservation. My experience has not only deepened my connection to the ocean but also inspired me to advocate for sustainable practices in my daily life.

Volunteering with LBCleanup has been a rewarding experience that has allowed me to combine my passion for the environment with meaningful action. By working together with like-minded individuals, we can make a difference in protecting our oceans and preserving them for future generations.
