Jack Jensen

Tennis has been a passion of mine since I was 10 years old, and has helped me enter the workforce and build a career.

At age 13, I asked my first tennis coach for a job at the local summer tennis camp. After a few weeks of collecting old balls and learning how to teach basic drills, I started coaching and fell in love instantly.

Throughout high school, I would spend Summers at the Ladera Summer Tennis Camp, and even did a stint during the school year at Player Capital tennis where my brother was training.

These experiences helped me grow my passion for teaching and gave me a good baseline for becoming a real tennis coach.

In 2017 I started attending the University of Oregon, studying business, and minoring in Sports Business and Journalism. Anytime I had an extended break from school (Summer/Winter) I would return home to coach, this time at Pure Pace Tennis Academy. Upon returning home in 2021, I was offered a full-time job at Pure Pace and did so until the closure of the business in early 2022 when my boss moved to Florida.

With Pure Pace closing its doors, but still tons of former clients in the area, I teamed up with Yoav Saarony to create Plus 1 Tennis Academy in May, 2022.

Since starting Plus 1, I've learned a wide array of skills that owning your own business requires to be successful. Maintaining customer relations through mass-email communications and Instagram, managing our junior assistants schedules and payroll, running operations through our Quickbooks account, and tracking our clients attendance and bills through Microsoft Excel, are just some of my daily responsibilities that make it possible to teach on a daily basis.

Overall, my tennis journey has lead to creation of Plus 1 and I couldn't thank my mentors and former coaches enough for helping inspire me to want to pursue tennis as a career. Through Plus 1, my mindset has shifted to be adaptable and want to learn about other areas of business such as accounting, marketing, and sales to help Plus 1 grow. I am always ready to take on a new challenge and hope I can help you grow your business too.
