A volunteer organization in Columbus, OH that shares very similar goals as Brickfire Mentoring in Starkville, MS. The goal of My Brother's Keeper is to provide academic resources to children in the inter-city columbus area, specifically children of color. My role was primarily to act as a tutor in the core classes for these kids, providing homework assistance and teach the students strong study habits.
Adaptive Sports Connection (ASC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving children, veterans, and adults with disabilities through outdoor and therapeutic recreation. I serve in the kayaking and mountain biking programs of ASC during my summers, where I help those with disabilities find a comfortable specialized bike or kayak that is built to adjust to their specific disability. I would also often give tours of the lake or biking paths after situating them into their bikes/kayaks.
As freshman scholarship chair of my fraternity, I am in charge of tutoring and aiding my class of brothers and the incoming class next year. My goal is to push each and every one of my brothers to put their best work forward in not only their academics, but in everything else they do in life.
Scout team player (practice player) for the women's team here at Mississippi State. When practice is not in session, I also help coaches with extra tasks that need done.
