- Working with Genesse & Wyoming that then was turned over to PSC Group I advanced through multiple positions within rail yard operations, taking on increasing levels of responsibility in safety-critical environments. Began as a loader, promoted to a switchman, promoted to a locomotive engineer, and then further promoted to Yardmaster.
- LOADER- As a well coordinated team we loaded rail cars with various materials which included propane, butane, natural gas, and condensate.
- SWITCHMAN- I was responsible for safely coordinating and performing railcar switching operations within a short yard. Duties included coupling and uncoupling railcars, aligning track switches, directing train movements via hand signals and/or radio, and ensuring proper placement of cars for loading or departure. Maintained strict adherence to safety protocols, inspected equipment, and worked closely with engineers and yard crews to keep operations efficient and on schedule.
- ENGINEER- Operated locomotives within the rail yard to move, position, and assemble railcars safely and efficiently. Followed Yardmaster instructions, maintained constant communication with ground crews via radio, and ensured compliance with all safety regulations. Monitored equipment performed, controlled speed and braking, and responded quickly to changing conditions to prevent incidents.
