- Help determine the locations, dates, and times of the visitations (wakes), funeral or memorial services, burials, and cremations. Handle other details, as well as helping the family decide whether the body should be buried or cremated.
- Sometimes we help resolve insurance claims, apply for funeral benefits, and notify the Social Security Administration, or the U.S. Veterans Affairs of the death.
- Help provide information and resources, such as support groups, to help grieving friends and families.
- Prepare obituaries and arrange for pallbearers and clergy service. If the burial service is chosen, I schedule the opening and closing of the grave with a representative of the cemetery.
- Prepare the sites of all services, and provide transportation for the deceased.
- Arrange shipment of the body out of state or out of the country for final disposition.
- Responsible for preparing the bodies for burial or cremation in a respectful and professional manner. This includes dressing and cosmetizing the body to make it presentable for viewing.
