Work History

Corrections Officer

Ohio Department Of Rehabilitation And Correction
03.2023 - Current

I follow post orders assignments. I encourage other correction officers to utilize the wearing of body worn cameras for the safety and protection of staff and the incarcerated population. I make periodic/staggered rounds to ensure the safety of offenders assigned to my posts. I also enforce the inmate handbook and policies. The fruit of that minimizes the possibilities of escapees. I use de-escalation tactics while dealing with offenders, when necessary. I also use physical force, unarmed self-defense, firearms and/or other force to detain or secure incarcerated persons. I conduct rounds to inspect cells, recreation areas, and dining rooms for cleanliness. These are some of the things I've consistently done during my time as a correction officer. I also monitor and direct inmate movement during meals, pill call at the infirmary, education programs, worksites, and other locations. There's a myriad of things that come along with being a correction officer; some of my main daily objectives are to enforce the rules, protect myself and staff, and make sure the incarcerated population are safe and secured in their assigned areas. I'm experienced with working with all levels of incarcerated individuals including the following: death row, RTU, and reception center. I'm apart of two additional department teams, the Crisis Intervention Team and Crisis Response Team.
