Predicting the flow of the shop and making sound decisions when problems arise. Understand the importance of slag and attempting to run the most cost-efficient steel as possible.
Worked alongside First Helper to keep the furnace upkept and safe. Trained multiple utilities on safety, operations, efficiency, etc. Learned to operate the furnace.
General operations of the charge crane in a safe and efficient manner. Learned general safety on the melt deck and how to tend to the furnace.
Certified on all heavy equipment on site. Acting switchman on C crew for 9 months actively leading rail operations on the shipping and finishing lines. Learned much about inbound and outbound scrap and commodities.
Utilized throughout the entire shipping department helping the Crew Lead keep the department moving. Became more proficient in QMOS (shipping database) outputs. Assisting the crane operators and ground operators in almost all tasks. Audit loads as they leave the facility to prevent any mixed steel and/or miss-shipments.
Worked doing the main roles of a lead such as: assigning tasks, keeping operation flowing, etc. Learned how to use Microsoft programs such as: Excel, Spreadsheets, and Word
