Out of all my job professions I've worked, I found security and law enforcement are the best fit for me. The jobs I've held previously have helped me learn and develop useful skills that I've used for each job on a day-to-day basis. During my first security job, I learned how to command presence, watch out/prevent theft, and ensure/provide a safe and secure environment for coworkers and civilians alike. Those skills I learned from my first security job aided me in my second one as I now applied them along with a new skill; de-escalating. The time I spent as an unarmed/armed security officer helped me hone on those original skills I've learned; command presence, ensuring a safe and secure environment for civilians, while also learning how to de-escalate tense situations. Then, during my time as an armed security professional at the Aurora Municipal Center, I specialized in observing and reporting all vandalism, transients, disturbances, altercations, and any suspicious activity and people. At the Aurora Police Academy, I gained many certifications; Colorado POST Certification and CPR/AED Certification to name a couple. During my time as a police officer for the Aurora Police Department, I put all the skills I had learned from my previous jobs, as well as in the academy and from patrol, together to help me with my police duties. Now, some additional skills I can add to my belt are ability to work under pressure, make quick decisions in challenging situations, community policing, arrest control, conducting preliminary investigations and creating reports. These skills I've learned have helped me specialize in security or law enforcement related field of work. My goal is to maintain high standards of duty, honor, integrity, accountability, and professionalism with any profession.
