  • Organized and managed events of all sizes, designed to bring entertainment to the people of Storm Lake, as well as tourism and business to the town, from initial planning and contact through clean-up and a recap meeting.
  • Event planning requirements: Applying for and procuring permits for upcoming events through the city council, securing venues, contacting, accommodating and compensating participants (chainsaw carvers Wood, Wine and Blues, for example), booking food trucks and craft vendors, arranging vendors throughout the venue, and booking entertainment (bands, comedians, etc.), securing sponsorships and volunteers, printing and distributing posters, building and removing event spaces and decorations, and organizing SLU's annual Lighted Christmas Parade for Storm Lake’s Miracle on Lake Avenue.
  • Revived monthly meetings of SLU’s Retail in Action Committee (RIA), which consisted of local business owners and established better relationships amongst them and with SLU and helped me better know their needs and how best to accomplish their goals.
  • Organized Retail Sweepstakes that take place several times throughout the year by contacting businesses, making and printing posters and labels, distributing posters and registration jars for those events, collecting those jars and drawing winners on video then posting on Facebook.
  • Organized guest support services for guests to meet accommodation, transportation and service needs.
  • Created post-event reports that included a summary of attendees, feedback from participants, costs associated with the event.
  • Served as a liaison between local businesses and the city and developed relationships with business owners so I could be a better advocate for them.
