Summary

leadership, education, program management, research, analysis, proposal development and project implementation. As Chief Academic Officer and Senior Vice President at Charleston Southern University for 11 years, I was responsible for eight academic colleges, ten national accreditations, hiring and oversight of 192 faculty members, all institutional assessment, operation of the university's library, international students program, student success center operations, +100 staff members, and 3,400 students participating in higher education at the university, which has 60 undergraduate, 20 graduate, two doctoral programs and 16 online degree programs. During my tenure as Vice President, the university successfully completed two 5-year regional accreditation reviews by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, created and implemented a Physician's Assistant master's program, a Physical Therapy doctoral program, and the doctoral program in Education. I led the ten-year strategic planning for the university for several years and directed new program research, development, and implementation as well as building construction oversight for expansion of academic programs. I administered $35 - $40m of the university's annual budget as academic excellence is CSU's commitment to students. During this time, I also was the university's official signatory official on all grants. For almost two decades I represented the university across the nation, at regional and state events, as well as providing Academic Affairs updates to the CSU Board of Trustees on a regular basis. I served on the Trident Cradle to Career team, the Lowcountry STEM initiative, and the Trident RECAB Committee sponsored by the SC Department of Commerce. Because of my law enforcement and emergency management experience, I also filled the role of Emergency Manager for the university. With more than 18 years of teaching for the US Department of Homeland Security through the National Center for Biomedical Research and Training at Louisiana State University, I have trained uncounted numbers of first responders and school leaders on Campus Emergency Management and Advanced Forensics since 2006. Prior to my selection to serve as Vice President for Academic Affairs in 2012, I served as Graduate Director and Program Chair for the Criminal Justice Department. I provided leadership as Chair of the University Pandemic Task Force which successfully led the CSU campus through the COVID pandemic without experiencing a single classroom exposure during the next two semesters. As a result of this effort of 47 staff and faculty members, our team was recognized by the City of Charleston as Health Care Heroes in 2021. I have demonstrated success in problem identification, working with individuals and organizations to create potential solutions through strategic planning and implementation of new programs, and forging new partnerships which include cross-disciplinary activities. Previous positions include educational and professional experiences with new program design and implementation based on development of successful grant proposals and execution of project management assignments at a Top 25 university.
