Second-year athletic training student and recent Sports Physical Therapy Residency graduate from the University of the Incarnate Word. As a former Division I student-athlete, I have firsthand experience with athletic injuries and understand the fast-paced environment of an athletic training room. Research Experience

  • Research Project Lead/Primary Author, University of the Incarnate Word, San Antonio, TX, 07/24, Present, Conducting a prospective cohort study investigating the relationship between pre-season musculoskeletal screening measures and subsequent in-season lower extremity and low back injuries among NCAA Division I fencers. Designed and administered pre-season and post-season screening protocols, including assessments of hip and ankle ROM, lower extremity strength, and functional performance. Managed participant recruitment, data collection, and injury tracking through collaboration with athletic trainers and bi-weekly Qualtrics surveys. Analyzing pilot data to determine the predictive validity of selected screening tools for fencing-related injuries. Aimed to inform sport-specific injury prevention and rehabilitation strategies through identification of modifiable risk factors in fencers.
  • Students’ Experiences with Microaggressions in PT Clinical Education, Northwestern Department of Physical Therapy, Chicago, IL, 01/22, Present, Developed interview and demographic questions and conducted participant interviews. Expanded codebook and analytic strategies to observe reoccurring themes. Created and presented poster at Northwestern Research Synthesis Fair 2023. Accepted for poster presentation at CSM 2024.
