  • As the Behavioral Health and Aging Coordinator, I assist Lehigh County and Northampton County Area Agencies on Aging by coordinating and implementing Behavioral Health resource coordination strategies and activities that improve access to behavioral health services for older adults in the designated counties. The primarily focus is on county-wide systems and services. This work also includes the Healthy IDEAS (Behavioral activation, evidence-based program) provision for individuals determined appropriate for services. In addition, I assist in hard-to-place/complex cases.
  • Travels to and interacts with consumers, members of the community, and representatives of other agencies in their homes, offices, and other community locations.
  • Works closely with the agency Executive Directors and the P4A Behavioral Health Policy Specialist to develop and execute the Behavioral Health Initiative.
  • Establishes initial contact with and maintains working relationships with local area agency on aging (AAA) leadership, local/regional behavioral health organizations, single county authorities, local/county/state government agencies, and other community partners to expand the network's current behavioral health outreach initiatives and capabilities to provide behavioral health services to older adults and caregivers.
  • Works with AAA staff to identify, research, and select local and regional organizations and community partners who can provide behavioral health services, coordinated with other health and social services. Develops and facilitates related agreements, procedures, and policies to best provide previously unrealized services through partnerships.
  • Analyzes behavioral health services data to project and determine regional program service provision needs. Identifies and develops regional programs for new and previously unidentified older adult behavioral health service needs.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs outreach initiatives/meetings/events within the assigned region to better educate older adults, family members, caregivers, and advocates on behavioral health resources and services available at the federal, state, and local levels. Provides oversight, coordination, and review of outreach initiatives occurring within the assigned region.
  • Project management - coordinate meetings, prepare materials, organize training, support, advocates, and coordinate follow-ups. Leading committees and workgroups to plan, strategize, identify problems and implement solutions. Prepare necessary presentation materials for meetings.
