  • Including assurance of all static and rotating equipment, all piping equipment including application, and assurance of specifications and standards.
  • Barrier health owner for mechanical static, rotating, and lifting within region.
  • Current ECO for all mechanical and piping equipment.
  • Worked with squads to ensure that mechanical engineers are prioritizing and not overloading themselves.
  • Worked with agile coach to help mechanical team become more agile and better equipped to handle unforeseen actions arising.
  • Set mechanical budget with Engineering DM and worked through some cost-saving ideas like possible deferrals and alteration to staggering plans.
  • Also reviewed open ConneXus cases to determine if any of them can be canceled.
  • Proposed to management options for carbon reduction including air intake cooling of export gas compressors (reduce number of compressor trains from 4 to 3 to meet gas nomination and improve maintenance requirements), upgrade of control logic for compressors, surge mapping review to reduce fuel gas requirements, upgrade of current compressor engines to newer model to achieve better performance.
  • Flash gas compressor vibration rectification work because of LOPC in 2019.
  • This included review of pipe supports, dampener support, and reduction in variable pocket size.
  • Lead engineer for deep dive on flash gas compressors on Khazzan with Wood.
  • Worked with maintenance to determine appropriate staggering plan for all rotating equipment.
  • Worked with central team and senior rotating equipment engineer to streamline contract process for overhaul of export gas compressors such that there is firm basis for overhaul with only additions to be reviewed.
  • Provided technical input and assurance for 5whys and RFCA’s across asset including review of risk assessments from eMOC’s.
  • Lead review of vulnerabilities and IRIS action to reduce number of overdue actions especially those that were open for long periods.
  • Reduced number of overdue IRIS, Optima, and eMOC actions to zero by working with mechanical engineers to provide direction in closing them out.
  • Updated equipment strategies in Oman to ensure that they are aligned with both OEM and maintenance periods seen during operation
  • As required reviewed maintenance PMs to determine if these can be removed or deferred or realigned to more condition-based monitoring schedule. Helped maintenance to reduce their backlog.
  • Point of contact for central team to assist and review central team developments to streamline reporting of mechanical issues to central PMU team.
  • Development of young mechanical engineers through pushing to get professional accreditation and completion of one engineering requirements. This also included mechanical engineers that were not in my direct reports.
  • Currently engineering point of contact of Institute of Mechanical Engineers for Oman region.

Lead Mechanical Engineer Khazzan Phase 2 Project

BP PLC
Dubai, UAE
07.2014 - 04.2021
  • Responsible for all mechanical design (both static and rotating) and assurance on Khazzan Phase II plant, Gas Gathering Phase 2, and completion of engineering for Khazzan Phase I to first gas
  • Deputized as Engineering Manager during project and during 2020 Covid 19 issues.
  • Deputized as Engineering Manager during project and during 2020 Covid 19 issues.
  • Responsible for assurance of all static and rotating equipment, all piping equipment including application and assurance of GPO specifications and standards.
  • Review and acceptance of all technical queries, deviations, site requests for all mechanical and piping items.
  • Lead plant layout engineer responsible for overall plant layout including greenfield and brownfield tie-in points.
  • Site Engineering Team Lead responsible for ensuring all site queries are addressed in timely manner.
  • Successful completion of all mechanical tie-ins between Khazzan Phase 1 and 2 and GWES.
  • This included completion of 10 tie-ins in 2020 TAR which included 6 golden welds.
  • Completion of Hot Tap tie-ins within Khazzan Phase 1 production plant.

Lead Mechanical Commissioning Engineer QUAD

BP PLC
08.2016 - 04.2017
  • Lead mechanical commission engineer for all mechanical and piping commissioning (both static and rotating) and piping including assurance on initial plant design and subsequent design revisions through Quad 204 FPSO dynamic commissioning to first oil.
  • Circuit system lead for hull utilities and Hull structure, turret and mechanical handling providing commissioning assurance and ensuring that dynamic commissioning is completed to project specifications.
  • Provide guidance as required to facilitate revisions and repairs to equipment as required in order to achieve dynamic commission of plant.
  • Lead preservation engineer providing guidance and assurance of required preservation of equipment prior to start-up of equipment both prior to commissioning and post commissioning.

Lead Mechanical Engineer

Sullom Voe Gas
07.2014 - 07.2016
  • Lead mechanical engineer for all mechanical design (both static and rotating) and assurance on initial Amine plant design and subsequent design revisions through Ultra High Pressure Puraspec plant and MEOR
  • Responsible for assurance of all static and rotating equipment including
application and assurance of GPO specifications and standards. Lead piping engineer responsible for assurance of the piping design against GPO specifications and standards in relation to pipe materials and valves. Lead plant layout engineer responsible for overall plant layout including greenfield and brownfield tie-in points.
  • Lead materials engineer responsible for the selection and assurance of materials for low temperature high pressure service in a H2S environment. Provided assurance on low temperature brittle analysis and fatigue analysis of heavy walled pressure vessels and
pipe. Reviewed third party fatigue analysis of existing pressure vessels to determine suitability for continued operation of plant for another 10 years. Completed review agreed with current reasoning that existing plant was suitable for continued operation.
  • Provided guidance on use of low stress approach for pipework due to low temperature application in accordance with ASME B31.3. Blowdown temperatures resulted in challenges with selection of materials and stressing of pipework. Correct selection of materials and limitation of blowdown temperatures allowed for conventional pipe stress to be used. Use of low stress approach was limited to brownfield pipework modifications.
  • Review and assurance of engineering contractor documentation in accordance with GPO Engineering Guidelines, MPCp and OMS.
