Jaime Yost

I am a labor and delivery nurse in a level 1 LDRP unit, in which I care for patients in all phases of maternity care. I participate in the professional practice committee and educating of staff, along with precepting nursing students and new hires.

I worked in a level 2 LDRP unit that was partnered with Akron Children's Hospital in the level 2 Special Care Nursery. My roles included caring for labor, surgery, triage, and postpartum mothers and newborns in the normal and special care nursery. I, also, filled charge nurse and preceptor roles. I was pursuing advancement up the clinical ladder and was a member of unit committees and participated in educating staff on our unit and other hospital units.

I worked in a level 1 LDRP unit that downgraded from a level 2 Labor and Delivery and level 2 Special Care Nursery unit. My roles were charge nurse, labor nurse, nursery nurse, postpartum nurse, and preceptor for new hires. I circulated, scrubbed, and recovered surgery patients. I was the co chairman for the unit based professional shared governance nurse council and participated in unit committees.

I worked full time for three years as a med-surg nurse on a gyn/general surgery floor with eight patient assignments and charge nurse shifts. For another two years, I worked PRN as a float nurse to all med-surg units. I I served as our unit's alternate nurse council representative.
