ATTORNEY/CLIENT EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT

  • This letter will confirm my agreement to represent you in connection with the drafting of a Property Settlement Agreement and Uncontested Divorce filed by you, Jamel Nathaniel Wilson, against Shakaila Ireonia Malinda Wilson. My representation will include drafting the Property Settlement Agreement including minor revisions requested by the client, and minor negotiations, plus advising, counseling, investigating, handling, prosecuting, and defending this matter to final settlement or adjudication an uncontested hearing in the Circuit Court, but excluding any appeal.
  • No deposit is required at the time you return a signed copy of this letter. My fees will be billed directly to Legal Resources Legal Insurance.
  • Should your case become contested, your Legal Resources membership hourly rate will be $300.00, which is a discount of 25% off of our normal rate of $400.00 per hour.
  • Your insurance does not cover court filing fees. Should these become necessary I will inform you in advance. (The current filing fee is $85.68) In addition to this fee described above, you will be responsible for expenses I incur in connection with this matter. Such expenses may include, among others, filing fees, process server fees, bank/lender fees, title work, expert witnesses, mediator, home studies, court costs, postage, etc. Whenever possible, I will forward bills for any expenses incurred on your behalf directly to you and you agree to make prompt, direct payment to the originator of these bills. If I make payment for you, it will be necessary to reimburse me promptly.
  • In the event that you lose insurance coverage, you are responsible for our fee at our regular rate of $400.00 per hour.
  • If at any time you become dissatisfied with my handling of this matter, you should not hesitate to tell me immediately so we can resolve the problem and maintain a good relationship with you. You may terminate my representation at any time. In the event of termination, you agree to be responsible for payment of any fees earned or expenses incurred up to termination, including the cost of copying and delivering your file to you.
  • I may withdraw from representation in this matter if you: insist upon presenting a claim or defense that is not warranted under existing law and cannot be supported by good faith argument for an extension, modification, or reversal of existing law; personally seek to pursue an illegal course of conduct; insist that the law firm pursue a course of conduct that is illegal or that is prohibited under the disciplinary rules; render it unreasonably difficult for the firm to carry out its employment; insist that I engage in conduct that is contrary to the judgment and advice of the attorneys but not prohibited under the disciplinary rules; or deliberately disregard any agreement or obligation to me as to the timely payment of expenses or fees as required by this agreement for services rendered.
  • I will use my best efforts in representing you in this matter, but you acknowledge that we can give no assurances as to the final outcome.
  • If the foregoing terms are acceptable, please sign and return one copy of this letter. I look forward to working with you.
