KOREAN AMERICAN FEDERATION OF LOS ANGELES

  • Served as President of the Korean American Federation of Los Angeles – a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which advocates and offers direct services to Korean Americans who reside in LA County.
  • Managed six (6) full-time staff, two (2) part-time staff and over 20 volunteers.
  • Trained staff how to navigate constituent services such as the State of CA’s EDD UI and SDI programs. Also oversaw other social service programs:
  • COVID-19 Testing/Vaccination Clinics
  • California Mortgage Relief Program
  • Housing is Key (Emergency Rental Assistance Program)
  • Stop the Hate (California Department of Social Services Grantee partner)
  • Free Women’s Health Screening
  • Monthly Free Legal Clinic with the Korean Bar Association
  • City of LA’s Small Business Rental Assistance Program
  • City of LA’s Legacy Business Program
  • LAPD Olympic Division Korean Language Interpreters Program
  • Worked closely with City Council Offices, Office of the Mayor, Department of Recs & Parks, HACLA, LAHD, LAEWDD and their constituent programs
  • To date, helped create 900+ “how-to” instructional videos on YouTube which educated Koreatown community members how to apply for different social benefit programs
  • Founded KAFLA’s YouTube channel and increased subscribership from seven (7) to currently over 15,000 subscribers

  • Led the effort to archive all of KAFLA’s activities and events through photos, video recordings. Was one of four volunteers who in March of 2020 (onset of the pandemic), helped answer 400+ phone call, emails, daily. Beginning early April, we began to meet with community members in-person, assisting with SBA EIDL loan applications and EDD UI/PUA applications.

  • One of 26 board members tasked with being the voice of the residents/business owners/stakeholders of the WCKNC. Attended monthly meetings, listened to constituent concerns, and helped submit Community Impact Statements (CIS) to the LA City Council. Also served as Board Chair for the Homelessness Committee.
