Manufacturing Process Engineer

  • Company Overview: OEM manufacturer of Class 4 and 5 Medium Duty Trucks (4500, 5500 & 6500 Silverado’s for GM) We also produce International Trucks including Heavy Duty Class 8 Trucks for the Military and Commercial segment.
  • Responsible for completed trucks coming off the end of the assembly line but in need of some form of repair due to part shortages, operator errors either in a sub-assembly department or on the main line.
  • These repairs can be minor up to major depending on where the issues occurred during the assembly process.
  • I investigate the root cause and confer with Manufacturing Supervisors, Engineering and Supply Chain as needed to determine root cause.
  • I am responsible for running the assembly prints and any other documentation required to complete the repairs necessary to complete the final build.
  • I evaluate and order any parts required that the repairmen will need when the trucks come to their repair stalls.
  • Must be knowledgeable of the plant layout and what departments perform what duties in order to communicate the issues back to the departments.
  • Work closely with the Pilot Team to understand Model or Customer request that are new to the plant.
  • Assist with Work Instructions and Build Books.
  • Assist Production Operators, Supervisors, Managers, Engineering and Quality with technical support and documentation as needed.

  • I was responsible for investigating issues on the production floor in the Defense Electronics Division.
  • I was heavily involved with any problems that would occur involving the Pick & Place robots that were used to mount SMD components to the PC Boards.
