In September 2012, I became the team lead for the Utility and Energy Management Branch under the direct supervision of the Utility Branch Head here at NAVFAC Patuxent River.
As the Team Lead for the Navy Public Works Utilities and Energy Department, I am responsible for managing and overseeing the Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative privatization contract.
I perform reviews on all project designs for Pax River, Webster Field and Solomon’s to make sure they have met all utility regulations and requirements.
As part of my duties I have a constant interaction with all Pax River customers. This includes outage scheduling with customers, project reviews with customers for utility requirements, and discussions concerning energy consumption.
My team lead role consist of making sure all Utility owned facilities (Approximately 80) are maintained by applying the principles, concepts and methods of facility administration along with my knowledge of electrical, mechanical and construction to maintain these facilities.
I have recently overseen the inventory risk and assessment project. With this project and my knowledge of Maximo we were successfully able to build the inventory in Maximo for all the utility equipment.
When this started the inventory for the base utility system was around 600 pieces of equipment. The inventory in Maximo is now over 4500.
Under this position I am also required to obtain and maintain the portion of the Bos service contract pertaining to utilities.
I write scope and estimates (Using RS Means), perform technical analyst, and push project for funding.
This includes funding for jobs under $100,000.00, requesting funding through the Navy Yard for projects over $100,000.00 and maintaining and updating a running list of all minor work service tickets.
