  • Started as a Security Officer and worked my way up to 1st Shift Supervisor
  • I supervised 15 Security officers in fixed and mobile locations thru out the facility
  • I trained new officers on the 15 different designed security routes, and conducted inspections of each post and route daily
  • The site was monitored by electronic video surveillance, walking patrol, vehicle patrol
  • Access control was handled in four different locations, 2 front desks and 2 loading dock locations
  • Communications were conducted with two way radios.

  • Activities Officer was responsible to run the gym operations, control movement, issue recreational equipment, and check on the welfare of the contract employees
  • Activities did complete searches of recreational areas after hours, conducted fence inspections, and responded to emergency situations
  • Unit Officer was responsible for conducting room inspections, searches of rooms, and pat downs of inmates during movement times
  • Unit officer maintained control of the housing unit, immediately handled disputes, conducted first aid and CPR, conducted controlled counts and locked down the unit
  • Detention and Special Housing Unit (SHU) officer maintained control of protective custody inmates, and inmates that were being punished for infractions within the prison
  • These inmates could be housed for days to years in the SHU
  • Security Officer duties consisted of operation and repair of all mechanical lock and locking systems within the prison
  • Attended a 6 week course in Bureau of Prison Locksmithing in Glynco, Georgia.
