Project Management – Responsible for product development initiatives and oversight of manufacturing processes. Identify product requirements and conduct brainstorming sessions. Develop product testing plan according to product requirements. Lead design reviews, give useful feedback to implement design changes. Participate in FMEA evaluations and suggest solutions to mitigate design risk. Implement engineering change orders.

Product Development – Evaluation of design concepts to determine viability and consider parallel path development. Material selection for environmental, mechanical and manufacturing requirements. Conduct DFM reviews and give feedback to ensure component manufacturability. Use LEAN design practices to reduce unit cost and maximize value to consumers. Collaborate with commodities, manufacturing and leadership teams to plan production schedule and identify key milestones.

Rapid Prototyping – Utilization of in house manufacturing capabilities to produce high quality customer samples. Rapid design of mechanical components to meet immediate customer needs. Use of additive manufacturing such as FDM to create prototypes for fit, form and function evaluation.

Industrial Solutions – Otter’s most sophisticated product category. Created for hazardous work environments, this product line is made for industrial environments that demand rugged performance. The industrial tablet case is UL certified and designed with user safety as the highest priority. Requires diligent design work and robust testing practices to meet strict regulatory standards. Duties include, but are not limited to failure mode analysis, root-cause analysis, risk mitigation, materials investigations, crack initiation diagnostics, gaseous leak path identification, advanced 3D modeling and manipulation of complex assemblies.

Symmetry Case Product Design – Responsible for the design and development of sleek phone cases from the Symmetry product line. Implement creative risk mitigation solutions to ensure product is released on schedule and meets all design specifications.

Waterproof Case Product Design – Valued member of engineering team, completing complex 3D engineering models within tight timelines. Detailed injection molded plastic design for aggressive product launch schedules. Implementing DFM feedback from tooling and manufacturing teams to ensure product integrity.

AirPods Protective Shell – Responsible for the design and development of PCR plastic protective shell. Material investigation and selection based on product performance and PCR content requirements. Fabricated and tested prototypes for fit, form, and function.

PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 Controller Protective Shell – Designed and developed product from the ground up. Used LEAN design practices to mitigate risk and deliver maximum value to the consumer. Comprehensively tested prototypes form, fit, and function while working closely with tooling engineers to minimize tooling investment. Advanced 3D surface modeling was required for product completion.

Mobile Gaming Tablet Product Tech Dev– Assisted in the development of winter 2022 product from the ground up. Vetted several design concepts. Designed several mechanisms for tablet stand deployment and tablet securement solutions. Collaborated with the product management team to determine the minimum viable product and what was needed to achieve it.

Liviri Tote Acoustic Quality Testing Equipment – Design and validated quality testing apparatus to ensure consistency in thermal performance for future LIVIRI Product Line. Assisted LIVIRI engineering team with 3D design work, prototyping, and various testing procedures, including drop and abuse testing.

Product Lead Engineer, Clearly Protected Skin (2019) – Responsible for all 3D design work and engineering drawings, as well as post RFT deliverables for “Clearly Protected Skin” product • Secured valuable IP for Otter Products through 2 utility patents • Aided in training of fellow employees on best design practices in Solidworks • Responsible for engineering change orders in data management system (Agile and PDM) • Created detailed part and assembly drawings with tolerancing and material/texture callouts.
