This position serves as the Administrative Operations Specialist for the Inyo National Forest, providing administrative and management support to ensure the unit's operations run smoothly.

  • Serves as the advisor to the unit leadership team and staff concerning all administrative operations in the unit.
  • Serves as the primary resource for assessing needs and developing plans to meet the administrative and operational requirements of the unit.
  • Serves as the central point of contact for information on a variety of administrative functions, procedures, and requirements within the unit.
  • Determines the impact of new guidance and procedures provided by the Regional Office. Identifies key issues and develops operating procedures and guidance about administrative management operating practices.
  • Advises management staff of the potential consequences of proposed actions and provides guidance and recommendations for making decisions.
  • Serves as advisor to the unit leadership team and staff in support of the administration of the unit budget.
  • Meets regularly with unit staff to discuss the status of their projects, identify issues affecting the activity's operation, and provide an opportunity for the exchange of relevant information.
  • Monitors the Advanced Acquisition Plan to ensure program managers' planned projects and obligated funds will meet timelines set by the Regional Office. Identifies potential problems involved with budget forecasting and personnel/organizational structures.
  • Serves as point of contact for human resource matters by maintaining close working relationships with the Human Resource Service Team and the Albuquerque Service Center. Identifies potential problems and brings them to the attention of appropriate staff for action.
  • Coordinates the initiation and follow-up of personnel requests for personnel actions and assures that all documentation is provided.
  • Serves as the unit's primary point of contact for all human resource-related issues.

  • Coordinates and oversees the unit's records inventory and file management plans to ensure unit records are managed and maintained as required by the Office of Management and Budget and the National Archives and Records Administration.
  • Provides general guidance and answers to inquiries concerning the application of administrative regulations, legislative acts, and policies received from the Regional and/or Washington Office to ensure compliance with unit priorities.
