Smart Energy Monitoring & Overload Protection System
Jackson State University
Jan 2026 – Present
• Designed and built an ESP32-based embedded energy monitoring system to measure real-time voltage, current, and power consumption for residential electrical loads.
• Engineered voltage and current sensing circuits using integrated sensors to enable continuous energy data acquisition and monitoring.
• Developed overcurrent protection logic that automatically disconnects circuits exceeding 12A, preventing potential electrical overload and improving system safety.
• Programmed embedded firmware (C/C++ / Microcontroller Programming) to process sensor inputs and execute real-time protective control actions.
• Implemented standby power detection algorithms that identify inactive devices and automatically disable unused electrical loads to reduce energy waste.
• Built a mobile application interface enabling users to remotely monitor energy consumption and control individual electrical outlets through a smartphone-based control system.
