James O'Toole

I am a K-12 school District Maintenance Technician who specializes in locksmith and carpentry. I am assigned to a K-5 grade school where I am responsible for all general maintenance and preventive maintenance. In addition, it is my responsibility to attend to the doors, locks and keys of the districts other 9 buildings. I am proud of my ability to stay focused and organized in a busy environment. I am able to prioritize my work load in a way that assures my day goes efficiently and produces a quality outcome. To help with organization I have developed a new key assignment and distribution system that eliminates paper, and auto fills a master key log spread sheet that is also divided in to each individual building.

This is where I learned most of what I know and where I developed many of my skills as a carpenter, coworker, leadman/supervisor forman superintendent. As a general contractor business owner I earned skills such as budgets, scheduling, safety, logistics and customer service.

• Read and interpreted blueprints, sketches and specifications to understand job.
• Organized project work by reading blueprints and assessing job specifications to determine optimal plans.
• Supervised many employs and offered specific recommendations to improve work quality.
• Followed protocols and stayed organized to provide personal and teammate safety.
• Interacted closely with customers to better understand project scope.
• Collaborated with other construction workers to coordinate projects and streamline process.
• Assisted in training new carpenters to demonstrate techniques, apply best practices and comply with protocols and regulations.

My responsibilities included all general maintenance and preventive maintenance in the high School such as carpenter/locksmith, plumbing, electric, HVAC.
