I feel that the Power Plant Technology degree gave me a strong foundation to start from. I have learned so much and thankful for the hands on experience that I have been fortunate enough to recieve since. I love the work, and love the team enviroment that turns into family. We are all in this together and know I am going to learn something new every day.

Power Plant Operator I

Auxiliary Operator resposible for rounds to ensure normal operating conditions in a 720 mw plant. Preventive maintenance included oil, filter, temperature checks on all Air Quality Control Systems. These started with Air Rotary Heater Systems, Dry Flu Gas Desulferization Sytems, Baghouse Systems, and Induced Draft Fan systems. Also responible for Boiler Operations which included rounds to ensure all safety valves were functioning properly. Econimizer collection and transfer belts and pyrite hoppers stayed clear of plugs and maintained a normal operating status. Work orders and LOTO procedures were initiated when any abnormal event was observed.

Operator at a two unit 1100 MW coal fired station. Duties included Boiler and Turbine operations. Bottom Ash control room operations using ovation and outside water source observations. Performed maintenance on all auxiliary equipment as needed. Also unloading of chemical trucks and LOTO (hanger, verifier, holder and LOTO Authority) resposiblities on a daily basis.

Next shift was 6 hours Wet Flu Gas Desuferization operator and followed up with 6 hours Main Control Room Operations. Also responsible for chemical truck deliveries and all LOTO responsibilites.
