This role's responsibilities include design and implementation for different levels of services. Working with customers, planners, engineers, as well as solutions architects, and sales agents, and a variety of departments in a cross-functional manner to assure each design is priced correctly and in a timely manner.
Outside Plant Engineering involved holding various titles, such as DS1 Engineer, OSP Design Engineer, including Right of Way Engineer (acquiring building access grants and PALs, and negotiating space and power for VZ electronics—this included frequent consultations and collaboration with VZ Legal for Building Access Licenses, Grants, and Easements), Conduit Engineer, Highway Engineer, FiOS/FTTP Engineer, MDU Engineer, MTU Engineer, FTTC Engineer, Held Order Engineer, Buried Residential Engineer, FiOS Hotline Engineer, Hi-Cap Engineer, and 360 Engineer. Functions in this role include major FTTP Relief jobs, network transformation, assuring all legacy services are migrated to NGDLC (Next Generation Digital Loop Carrier) for DS1, DS3, OC3, and TLS. It also includes migrating DSO services from legacy copper and digital analog to FiOS and/or BAU fiber products. FiOS work includes design, budgeting of new MDU, MTU, Greenfields, F1 Route relief, and Network Transformation implementation. Daily activities include investigation and resolution of held orders for DSO, DS1, TLS, VzON, OWS, 10G-IEN, CBS/CNE, FTTP/Fios, and special construction evaluation. Well-versed in using all major engineering systems such as TIRKS, LFACS, LEISS, IVAPP, vBuild, BDMS, IDDS/ICGS, NT GEO Spatial Tool, FIM, NTAS, Canvas, and UUI. Responsible for network adds for DS1, OC48, OC192 MUX, Eline, IEN, and FTTP/Fios equipment as well.
