Paramedic Lieutenant, Shift Supervisor

  • As the Lieutenant, shift supervisor, it was my responsibility to make sure that adequate emergency service coverage was available in our coverage area
  • Additionally, we were responsible for providing both basic and advanced life support transport services for patients needing specialized treatment at other facilities
  • I was in charge of 7 emergency response vehicles and 20 emergency services personnel ranging from Emergency Medical Technicians, Paramedics, Nurses, and Medical Director and Flight crews
  • While there, the company was increased in size from 3 response vehicles to 7
  • This agency was non-profit and did not depend on a tax base
  • All the funds necessary to increase business size was raised by donations and billing
  • Was able to get billing computerized thus making it more organized and traceable for accounts payable and receivable
  • Developed spreadsheets to track productivity and inventory usage by personnel
  • This enabled us to staff adequately and to decrease random ordering resulting in better control on inventory and ultimately reduce costs
