In 2010, I advocated for a the passage of bill introduced by council members that expanded dedicated funding for the Philadelphia Housing Trust Fund by 40%, which would yield an additional $3.5-$5.5 million per year to build new affordable homes.

·In 2011, I partnered with city council members to expand and improve the Philadelphia CDC Tax Credit Program, to provide $30 million in flexible funding support to 30 community development corporations.

In 2008, I collaborated with environmental activists to plan a workshop, “Advancing Green Building in Philadelphia,” to educate local stakeholders on green building benefits and challenges, and to discuss how to advance this work at the policy and implementation levels.

  • Collaborated with Mississippi health educator Brenda Bell Caffee, who created a community outreach and health education workshop called “Not in Mamma’s Kitchen” to educate women about the health risks related to secondhand indoor smoking and to encourage women to ban smoking in their households In Boston, MA.
  • Organized and developed the state-funded grassroots coalition that raised local awareness and catalyzed local policy changes that increased local tobacco control policies, promoted local adult smoking cessation services and prevented youth smoking, and the successful passage of indoor smoking bans in workplaces, bars and restaurants in the cities of Agawam, Chicopee, Munson, Springfield and Wilbraham in Hampden County, MA.
