  • Provide supervision and leadership over all agency aspects of probation including the direct supervision of Title IVE funds, Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Programs, Interstate Compact, discretionary grants and various state aide programs.
  • Responsible for the legislative implementation of SB1630, tasks include creating a new agency division, leading the multidisciplinary Regionalization Task Force, and creating the processes and procedures for the diversion of youth with the goal of reducing commitments to TJJD.
  • Optimized project timelines by effectively delegating tasks and prioritizing workload among team members.
  • Cultivated a culture of innovation by promoting creative thinking and encouraging employees to take calculated risks in pursuit of solutions.

  • The department evolved from a 'report, pay and walk away' department to one always on the front edge of innovation.
  • Improved all programming through increases in locally generated funds through improved indirect caseload reporting.
  • Created partnerships with non-profits, resulting in offenders having opportunities to benefit, thus reducing the number of revocations.
  • Developed a probation officer evaluation tool that is used to this day by many departments across the state.

  • Served as the first and only Chief in Residence for the Texas Juvenile Probation Commission.
  • Assessed most all of the functions of TJPC including the agency interactions with the 166 departments across Texas.
  • Worked to create a new organizational structure for the agency pending the merger of the TJPC with the Texas Youth Commission.
