Because of the seriousness of covid-19 I Bay Alarm was unable to send me to their training facility in Concord Ca . I was never able to receive my alarm certification .
As a network cabling specialist my job duties included finding the best rout for network cables ,running and securing the cables , terminating cables with rj45 connectors and testing cables , connecting cables to router and computers , smart televisions and video game systems and security systems . I also was responsible for tagging and labeling all cables ,sealing cable entery locations .
As a security installer my responsibilities included installing security DVR head inside of home , installing cameras on outside of home selecting optimum locations for full coverage of property and entryways , connecting cameras to security DVR via cables and dressing excess cables in so as to not stick out , cabling and connecting security to network router on property to allow for remote access via smart phone application and storage in the cloud if desired .I also was responsible for commissioning new system and setting up external alarm functions including lights sirens etc.
While with Asplundh I was responsible for trimming and removing trees that were in the power line right of ways. My job duties included securing property owners consent to access right of ways . Trimming trees from a rope and harness top down method, using a bucket truck to trim and remove trees where truck access was available ,using a tree chipper to chip removed tree limbs and trunks ,spraying tree stumps with stump killer so trees don't regrow requiring further maintenance of right of way . Ass a crew chief of a High Line Crew I was responsible for meeting with power company Line Maintenance supervisor to receive and go over maps indicating where I would be dispatching my Asplundh work crews to remove danger trees along High Tension Power Line right of ways ,maintaining chain saws , wood chippers , all climbing gear , conducting weekly safety discussions in adherence with Osha safety standards to keep fellow crew members safe as well as attending Red Cross seminars to stay informed on how and when to provide first aid .
.Used tools such as table saw, radial arm saw, sliding table saw ,planer ,jointer, molder , sanders, drills , drill press, router ,all imaginable hand tools to build custom hardwood cabinets and furniture . Led four two man crews to update Virginia Beach VA city complex from copper fed circuits to fiber optic oc48 fiber ring with 3 point to point oc12 fiber nodes serving city e911 call center, city switch room, city data center. Upgraded Chesapeake VA Police department ,Public Library from copper service to oc3 fiber equipment. Installed access node equipment in Greensville Correctional Center in Jarratt VA to provide phone service for inmates and data circuits for prison. In charge of major effort to install cabinet and pad mounted sites all over rural Virginia and North Carolina to provide rural customers with Adsl lines for high speed internet access .Worked on NAVSATCOMMFAC NORTHWEST base in Chesapeake VA including barracks to install oc3 fiber ring, ATT switch for voice and data for personnel staying in barracks as well as two secure facilities on the base where I had to get daily security clearance to access all three sites on base as well as armed escorts for secure locations. Installed oc12 equipment in NOAA building in Chesapeake VA to upgrade t1 copper circuits to fiber fed circuits . Installed fiber optic nodes in many community colleges and universities in Virginia and North Carolina . Worked in Every central office and remote Virginia beach VA and Chesapeake VA upgrading existing Nortel 565 fiber equipment to new oc3,oc12,oc48 fiber optic systems provided by Nortel , ATT , Lucent , Fujitsu, and numerous others.
I grew up on a farm in West Virginia . I enjoyed hiking, hunting, fishing, camping , skiing, horse back ridding, bobsledding, riding dirt bikes, chasing fireflies , and reading Marvel and DC comics. I was and still am a healthy person seldom getting sick ! Living on a farm I was responsible for taking care of all live stock including horses, cows, chickens, and hogs. I participated in the slaughter and butchering of cattle and hogs. the experience has given me a life long appreciation of fine food . My father owned and operated a welding supply store so while he was running a business I was running a farm from 12 years old and up . My responsibilities included fence building, keeping barns clean, operating tractors to mow and bale hay twice a year , mowing brush, upkeep and maintenance of all tractors and equipment , cutting trees for firewood , keeping calcium levels correct on a dryer connected to a gas well to keep water from getting into our gas lines and freezing in winter so I guess you can say I am also a well tinder . I also have much experience running heavy equipment ,john deer , caterpillar, alice chalmers, massy Ferguson , dozers , end loaders, boom trucks, ditch witch, fork lift to name a few . I am a fully apprenticed cabinet and furniture maker. I also have tons of experience in home construction and general construction as my friends and I self contracted on weekends and evenings to make spare money .
