I'm a Journalism student wanting to improve my skills in digital photography and photojournalism. I'm adventurous and appreciate getting to assess and take appropriate risks to conduct proper photojournalism. I have photo/photojournalism experience from classes at UM, as well as a study abroad trip in Nepal where I took photos for a student who was covering women's struggles with citizenship and land ownership. From that experience and others I can confidently say that I function well in new and potentially stressful environments along with managing good teamwork and communication. I also prioritize being respectful and not invading peoples personal space.
Followed trips via kayak and company vehicle to take photos and videos of rafters, cook lunch for customers, and at the end of each trip use a 40 minute period to edit video clips and create a short compilation of the trip, or editing photos to sell when customers finished their day. Worked as a raft guide on days where photographers weren't needed.
Followed raft trips via kayak or company vehicle, stopping at specific locations to take pictures. Also worked simultaneously as the trips cook and a driver, and would cap off each day at base selling the photos to customers.
I've taken beginner and intermediate photo classes, media law, and a short study abroad trip in Nepal taking photos for a student covering women's struggles with citizenship, abuse and land ownership,
