River Grand is an assisted living facility where we have residents who live independently and require no assistance at all while others need little to a lot more assistance than others. During my shift I follow a care plan using the Rtasks app on an iPhone which tells me what services need to be completed with each resident on a daily basis. I pass medications that they need Daily, check blood sugars, give insulin, assist with their ADL’s, bath and dress them as needed and obtain vital signs and weights.
Assisted resident’s in long term care as well as the short term rehabilitation unit with daily ADL’s, bathing and dressing needs, obtained daily vitals and weights for the nurse, assisted residents with feeding and making sure they were brought to daily exercise groups and activities as well as their daily therapy sessions and answering call lights in a timely efficient manner. Transferred residents using a transfer belt, EZ stand or hoyer lift. While working on the short term rehabilitation unit, which is where I worked full time day shift for 18 of my 19 years at grand village, I assisted the cart nurse with daily wound dressing changes and assisted the therapist’s with encouraging them to gain their strength and independence back after a recent surgery or an acute illness by working efficiently with multiple residents at a time to provide the tools and time needed for them to be able to successfully complete their daily ADL’s independently. While working as a TMA at Grand Village I would work the med cart and pass medications that residents needed daily as well as check blood sugars, obtain vital signs and complete daily, weekly and monthly charting as needed for each resident and help assist the CNA on the floor with transfers and answering call lights as needed.
