Seventeen years of military service, six years as active duty with the remaining years as an Air Reserve Technician. I have worked two maintenance career fields on the KC-135. I am currently an Avionics Technician on the KC-46 and have also filled a temporary expeditor position on the KC-46.

Integrated Avionics Systems Technician

  • Operates and maintains avionics systems by analyzing equipment operating characteristics to isolate malfunctions in avionics, radar, integrated test systems built-in-test, multiplexed data bus systems, flight data recording systems, flight instrumental, information management computer systems, inertial navigation systems, digital air data systems, sensors, aircraft indicating systems, airborne warning and control systems.
  • Removes, installs, checks, modifies, and repairs avionics systems and line replaceable units.
  • Diagnoses malfunctions using aircraft maintenance manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, integrated test systems, and test equipment.
  • Updates operational logs, maintenance records, inspection records, and aircraft maintenance systems.
  • Performs and supervises alignment, calibration, and leak checks of avionics systems.
  • Uploads ground maintenance and operational software.
  • Maintains peculiar support equipment, tools, and other test equipment.
  • Inspects and evaluates aircraft maintenance activities.
  • Insures operational status and configuration of avionics systems and software.
  • Interprets and recommends corrective actions to inspection findings.

KC-46 Temp Expeditor

  • Identifies what equipment is required for tasks to be accomplished so aircraft is ready to work, saving man hours and lessening aircraft down time.

  • Responds to and directs appropriate maintenance personnel to Red Ball discrepancies.
  • Tracks, plans, and coordinates scheduled maintenance including TCTO's.
  • Coordinates maintenance activities so as not to coincide with each other and impede productivity.
  • On alert at all times in case of a flightline emergency and ready to enact measures as outlined in the Emergency Action Checklist.
  • Directs AGE drivers to position AGE as required.
  • Remains on the flightline when maintenance personnel are performing flightline maintenance and launching/recovering aircraft.
  • Tracks a multitude of aircraft status information and updates aircraft status' appropriately.
  • Communicates with CTK Personnel at the end of shift to ensure all tools are accounted for.
  • Sets priorities for maintenance activities (scheduled and unscheduled) and assigns personnel accordingly.
  • Ensures aircraft are mission capable for scheduled flying operations.
  • Coordinates refueling operations.
  • Coordinates aircraft towing operations and ensures appropriate clearance is granted before towing.
