Jamie Markowski

Hardworking student, shift manager, and club leader. Skilled at organizing smooth-running school projects, shifts, and club meetings and projects. Receptive to collaboration and implementing other's ideas.

Activities:

• Environmental Club President - I advocate, educate, and assist my advisor in coordinating our several projects to give back to the community and environment.
• Key Club Secretary - We participate in community service-oriented projects such as toy drives, food drives, meals on wheels, writing letters to younger children, and raising awareness for breast cancer and autism. As our club secretary, I keep track of all meeting records and member involvement. I also coordinate ideas with other members, advisors, and school staff.
• A Peer Leader - We guide and assist students and parents at back-to-school night, 8th-grade orientation, district arts festivals, freshmen orientation, and graduation. As an upperclassman, I conduct interviews.
• Science National Honor Society Member - I attend meetings, volunteer, and am actively enrolled in higher-level STEM courses. Our main project is running a K-8 science showcase where we will assist and inspire younger children interested in STEM.
• Member of DVRHS' Invitational Leadership Summit - An invitational workshop to learn and discuss fundraising strategies, conflict resolutions, how to properly run meetings, how to be an upstander, and retain member interest as an identified leader by one or more staff members.
• Volunteer at The Watershed Institute - I volunteer for events that not only help to raise funds for Watershed's mission but also get the community more environmentally engaged.
• Volunteer at Raritan Headwaters Association - Among other volunteers I was trained to go out to local streams, sample the water for temperature and other basic markers, and run further chemical tests on the samples at the lab. Between 9 volunteers, we tested 68 total streams in New Jersey!
• Etsy Storefront Owner - Since June 2020, I have managed an Etsy storefront where I sell 100% cotton handwoven bracelets. While my mom oversees finances, I am the sole creator of the product and handle all customer support and shipping. I offer several different designs, including an environmental awareness bracelet.
