IV Access Insertion: Starting intravenous lines for fluids and medications

Pre-op Checklist Complet: Verifying surgical consent, ensuring correct pre-surgical instructions and medications were followed, checking pre-operation lab values are present

Pre-Op Medication Administration: Administering prophylactic antibiotics and pre-operative medication protocols are administered as ordered

Patient Education: Addressing level of understanding, Explaining the procedure, addressing anxieties and educating patient and families on what to expect post-operatively

Pacu Airway Management: Managing and supporting airways, assessing breathing, providing oxygen therapy

Hemodynamic Monitoring: Monitoring vital signs every 5 minutes, blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen saturation as well as heart rhythm

Neurological Assessment: Monitoring level of consciousness and pupillary response

Pain/Nausea Management: Assessing pain levels and administering Iv narcotics and nausea medications

Wound/Surgical Sites: Checking surgical sites, dressings, drains for bleeding

Anesthesia Recovery Monitoring: Recognizing and reacting to anesthesia-related complications

Aldrete Scoring: Using standard scoring systems to determine when patient is ready for discharge to next level of care or nursing unit

Post-Op Discharge Readiness and Education: Assessing patient is awake and readiness for discharge Providing post-op education om wound care, pain management, follow up care
