AP Literature and Composition Instructor. Created a curriculum coinciding with the College Board Syllabus. Focus on analysis of literary elements and techniques to show complexity in literature. Instructed the use of grammar and vocabulary in the essay to increase a deeper level of knowledge. Peer reviews were taught using College Board rubric.

English 4 Honors-Students learned to write persuasive, analytical, narrative, and critical essays. MLA and APA format instruction for quarterly essays. Tracked student progress using formative assessments and providing individualized support to increase essay performance. Taught students how to incorporate evidence from trustworthy and academically credible websites.

Utilized multimedia resources to increase student participation with introduction of group projects, blogs, and literature infographics.

Participated in professional development opportunities to stay current on educational trends and enhance teaching effectiveness. Evaluated student essays to identify areas of growth and improvement, adjusting instructional strategies accordingly.

English 4-Applied various teaching aids to minimize learning gaps and motivate students. Short quarterly essays in line with curriculum. Essays based on literature. Instruction on vocabulary and grammar usage pulling evidence from passages.

2011-2023 ACT/SAT Instructor

Initiated and implemented an ACT and SAT preparation program at our school, which contributed to measurable improvements in student outcomes, including increased passing rates in the English and Reading sections and a higher overall graduation rate.

2010-2011

Teaching 10th Grade Reading. Tracked students data using formative assessments aligned to state tests. Students were taught annotation to identify aspects of the passage and deepen their reading comprehension.

Reading Teacher Grade 10

Teaching tenth grade students (gifted inclusive) to boost fluency in an engaging classroom environment. Increased student motivation by incorporating diverse texts, annotations, and writing to analyze text. Demonstrated cross curricular application to students and provided support when reading in other classes.

Grade 5 Teacher

Self contained Fifth Grade teacher. Collaborated with colleagues to develop formative and summative assessments in preparation for the Florida State Assessments. 100 percent passed all state tests. Cultivated critical thinking skills every Saturday with "parking lot" math and science. Formed an A Team and won first place. Enhanced student comprehension using diverse teaching methods, including visual aids, group activities, and hands-on experiences.

Teacher of Gifted

Teacher of Grades 4, 5, and 6 self contained Gifted Classroom. Differentiated lessons to meet the needs of 22 gifted students.

The students created two operas, then presented to the community. The funds to use came from a grant written to increase student engagement. I received this grant for three consecutive years. The grant included a monthly trip outside of school to increase authentic experiences.
