  • Provide effective and adaptive leadership for Infant and Early Childhood Special Programs (IECSP), within the Office of Child and Family Services in the Division of Mental Health and Substance Use
  • IECSP includes multiple programs with fifteen total staff: Part C Early Intervention Services, Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Services, and two federal grant-funded programs (one in year 6 and one in year 1 of awards)
  • Provide fiscal management and accountability for all of the above by seeking, obtaining, and managing state and federal funding currently totaling approximately 16 million dollars
  • Supervise and provide leadership and guidance for four (4) ADMH IECSP team leads in the management and expansion of their respective programs, including the EI Services Coordinator, the IECMH Services Coordinator, the State Reflective Practice Coordinator, and the SAMHSA grant Project Director
  • Created the first state-level IECMH Consultant positions within ADMH IECSP in FY20 (these are licensed Mental Health clinicians employed by ADMH)
  • Support the IECMH Service Coordinator in the hiring and training of the IECMH Consultants, many of whom receive Infant or Early Childhood Mental Health Endorsement through First 5 Alabama, and provide training, consultation, and support to parents and direct care professionals serving children birth to five with mental health concerns.
  • Serve as Principal Investigator and Project Director for the HRSA-funded Pediatric Mental Health Care Access grant, PATHS ( Pediatric Access to Telemental Health Services) in partnership with Children's Hospital's Behavioral Health Services.
  • Serve as Principal Investigator for the SAMHSA-funded five-year grant project Promoting Positive Early Experiences and Relationships in Alabama: a Team-Based Approach (PPEER) which aims to increase workforce capacity to better meet the mental health needs of children birth-12 (and their families) who are at risk for being removed from their homes or are already in DHR custody

  • Served as a founding member of the state Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health (IECMH) leadership Team that created and managed the Alabama Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health (IECMH) System of Care, including the creation of ten new state level IECMH positions, and served as founding member of the board of directors of the Alabama Association of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health (First 5 Alabama).
