Customer Service Representative
Boulder Packaging Center
Boulder , CO
11.2018 - Current
Please note this is a pre-Holiday, mailing season only job, usually for only about three to four weeks before Christmas.
People brought in packages and envelopes to mail, often wanted to know postage cost and arrival time with different carriers.
People brought in actual items, wanted to purchase a box to pack them in and sometimes mail the box. Had to first decide whether or not the items required packing/cushioning materials, what sort were appropriate for the items, then what size box was needed to accommodate everything. If we were packing and mailing the box, we then charged them the postage for the carrier they wanted and affixed postage/address label to the packed box.
Sorted and if necessary, scanned boxes to be picked up by the specific carriers.
Administrative Assistant

Spoke to prospective students, both High School students considering CU and our major, and also from within CU who were interested in transferring into the Department via the Intra-University Transfer (IUT) process. Prepared information packet for both groups. Besides the information packet, scheduled and ran IUT meetings, met with students who could not make the meeting times, managed the IUT process by gathering the forms, assembling transfer assessment criteria from online CU Student Records, assembling spreadsheets with the assessment criteria for each student, running copies for the evaluation team and then sending both the hard copy and email copy of the decision to each student.
As Building Proctor, coordinated with various CU departments as the liaison and also attended Proctor information meetings. With Facilities Management, generated work orders for work needed, met with the professionals who came to do the work or attended the planning sessions for intended work; coordinated with different departments and vendors for deliveries, yearly work and disposal of furniture and other items. Made recommendations and coordinated with the Office Manager to assign classroom spaces in the building and assured those spaces were correctly set-up for the specific class sections: made recommendations to the Office Manager about Faculty office assignments and made sure the office was ready for them to move into when the time came. This would include having the floor stripped and waxed, the office painted if necessary, having the desired shelves and furniture, updating the phone directory. At one point kept current the Departmental directory; grouped, faculty mailboxes; welcomed new faculty and got them set-up with their CU ID, informed them of their office and key, class space assignment, general building and CU campus layout. Coordinated grades by informing faculty of grade due dates, how to correctly fill-out the form, collecting grading sheets and making sure they were correctly filled-out, submitted on or as close to the due date as possible. When CU instituted a new online, grade submission system, relayed directions and due dates to faculty, kept track of who had and who hadn't submitted grades and reminded them about the missed due dates, kept the CU Records Department informed of missing grades.
At different times supervised student employees for both front office work and general building assistance.
At one point managed the scholarship information sheet and process by assembling the scholarship packet which included directions, application forms and assembled an Excel spreadsheet which listed all the scholarships by name with a definition or the intent of the specific scholarship or award, noted the amount of the scholarship or award and the qualifications for each one. Collected the applications, checking each to make sure the student had met all the qualifications necessary for the specific scholarship they were applying for to avoid disqualification if they were somethingthis would include an application filled-out incorrectly, the correct number and kind of supporting information and documents. Assembled applicant files for each scholarship prior to review by faculty scholarship committee. Generated and mailed acceptance letters.
Attended CU graduation as a Graduation Marshal on behalf of the Department and also attended other official CU visitation, information and other meetings.
Other duties as requested.
Photographer Intern
University Of Colorado Boulder
Boulder , CO
08.1996 - 01.2001
Took photographs for the University of Colorado Boulder (CU) photo identification cards (ID) for faculty, staff and students. Had to ascertain if the person qualified for an official CU ID, what kind of designation was to be noted on the card and if they had valid identification to prove their identify. Then took a photo and printed the ID card.
Balanced cash register monies and made deposit.
Assisted when the office expanded to fulltime hours when the ID card became the more comprehensive Buff OneCard and not just an ID card. As part of this had to import and save images as well as the other duties noted above.
Assisted with assembling an office manual and other reports as requested.
Assisted in changeover when the office was assigned to a different department.
