As Academic Advisor:

• Provided individual and group academic advising and mentoring to students in the undergraduate program in Communication Science

As Assistant Professor:

• taught courses in communication disorders, acquired neurogenic communication disorders and linguistics
• directed a series of interprofessional study abroad programs in Ireland for undergraduates in health, rehabilitation and education.

As Director of Undergraduate Education:

• collaborated with faculty to review and modify degree requirements to ensure consistency with the departmental and school missions and professional standards
• coordinated with faculty to provide early research opportunities for undergraduate students
• established a comprehensive recruitment, academic advising and mentoring service to undergraduate and post baccalaureate students
• developed a range of recruitment materials and events, and a one-on-one mentoring program
• trained and managed graduate assistants to serve as advisors and mentors for undergraduate students
• created program-related surveys and analyzed data to inform decisions regarding program development
• liaised with multiple offices across the university and managed all administrative data relating to recruitment, admissions, degree progress and graduation

• Participated in research activities (data collection and analysis) in the research lab of Dr. Connie Tompkins

• Taught undergraduate and graduate courses in linguistics and neurogenic communication disorders and supervised student clinical practice with individuals after stroke and head injury
• Created and directed a continuing education program for practicing speech therapists and audiologists in the Cape Town area

• Taught undergraduate courses in linguistics and neurogenic communication disorders

• Provided speech therapy services to inpatients and outpatients with neurogenic communication disorders
