Janki Patel

As a second year pre-law student, I am excited to continue my studies in both my Political Science and Public Relations majors. I am deeply interested in the intersection between these fields and how legal frameworks and strategic communication go hand in hand. This blend of interests drives my desire to better understand the influence that public policy and media have on one another, especially as our world grows more modern and media-driven by the day. I am eager to further my knowledge with practical experience and real-world skills.

• UGA Shikaari: By dedicating 15+ hours a week to this competitive dance team, I have learned to better manage my time as an involved student. I have been successful with efficiently working and communicating amongst a large group of people. I learn multiple, intricate dance pieces every week and work creatively to build a set and props for our ten-minute performances. As a member of a University of Georgia affiliated sports team, I strive to represent my university in the best manner possible.
• Rouge Magazine: As a Communication Coordinator and Social Media Assistant for Rouge magazine, I collaborate with my team members with the objective to better market our publication and foster engagement with our target audience and readers. This position involves efficient collaboration

• 1st Place at the 2023 University of West Georgia At the Core Undergraduate Research Conference: I placed first in the Academic and Research Papers category. My paper on the prevalence and persistence of tuberculosis in South Asia was entirely self-written and researched. I presented it to a panel at the conference and then participated in a question-and-answer segment where I was able to interact with my viewers. It was an incredibly rewarding experience from which I gained invaluable research and public speaking skills.
