  • Plans and develops individualized written plan of care based on the results of physical therapy evaluation of each referred patient/resident.

  • Manage the procedures for case-finding activities together with other Public Private Mix Directly Observed Treatment Short Course (PPM-DOTS) staff.
  • Provide health education for Tuberculosis (TB) patients and their identified home treatment partners upon initiation of treatment. This should include the basic knowledge about TB and its transmission, proper treatment, importance of Directly Observed Treatment Short Course (DOTS) and potential adverse drug effects.
  • Secure a written agreement from the patient and the treatment partner that they will comply with the requirements of the DOTS program.
  • Train the treatment partner and the patient regarding the DOTS process, proper administration of drugs, and filling up of the patient National Tuberculosis Program (NTP) ID cards.
  • Observe the patient swallow medicines in clinic at least once weekly. Ideally, visits should be more frequent during the intensive phase of treatment.
  • Determine any problem regarding the patient’s drug intake during clinic visits and report to the DOTS physician when necessary.
  • Accomplish and update the TB register and prepare quarterly reports for submission to the NTP. Analyze data together with the DOTS administrator and physician.
  • Maintain TB symptomatic master list for walk-in patients.
  • Inform the DOTS physician of any problems in the course of treatment.
  • Provide the private referring physician with monthly updates on the patient’s progress and remind the patient to report for follow-up visits with the referring physician.
  • Facilitate the requisition and distribution of drugs and supplies.
  • Supervise the Field Treatment Coordinator on proper implementation of DOTS.
