Accomplishments

· While serving as a laboratory quality manager at Metropolitan Hospital Nairobi, I led to transformation of the laboratory Quality Management System from basic to a full well developed and complex structure ranging from quality charts, lab job aids, policies, SOPs, to lab safety and quality manuals providing the department with a complete QMS structure as required by the ISO 15189 standards.

· Working as deputy manager I led a team that successfully navigated the challenges of COVID 19 pandemic from introducing screening and diagnostic tests to COVID 19, ensuring safety of both staff and clients, managing high volume workload while strictly adhering to the ministry of health guidelines and regulation.

· I was part of the team that earned the hospital accreditation status by COHSASA while serving in the capacity of secretary to the Infection and Prevention Committee (IPC) and laboratory deputy manager enabling the two departments to meet the required standards by the accreditation body within the required timeline.

· Led to the upgrade of the laboratory from class E to class F by setting up a molecular laboratory and raising both safety and quality standards to meet the requirements of the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board for the class F lab while serving in the capacity of deputy lab manager.

· As the deputy manager of the metropolitan lab, I managed to transform a basic microbiology lab to a modern fully automated microbiology lab utilizing high technology techniques in blood and fluid culture plus biochemical tests and organism’s identification cum drug sensitivity tests using BD Bactec 40X and Phoenix automated microbiology system that let to improvement in quality and TAT hence building confidence in doctors and clients
