• Complete thorough daily inspections
• Complete preventative maintenance/repairs and documentation
• Respond to incidents and construct direct/indirect fire and complete various other tasks
• Clear fuel breaks and remove fuels on various VMP projects utilizing excavator, grader, loader, skidsteer and dozers.

• Conduct vehicle checks to ensure they are response ready.
• Respond as a all risk agency to vegetation fires, structure fires, vehicle fires, medical aids, traffic collisions and over the bank rescues. Willow Creek Fire is responsible for roughly 19 miles of the HWY 299 corridor.
• Participate in weekly trainings to further education in services we provide.

• Operate various types of equipment during mining operations, road construction and slide removal operations.
• Transport multiple types and sizes of equipment on various types of trailers including but not limited to tilt deck trailers, 16 tire expandable trailer, 10' wide hydraulic neck cozad trailers, backhoes, graders, loaders (up to a 980), dozers (up to D8t) and excavators (up to 55ton).
• Haul various materials to/from job sites with dump trucks, end dumps, belly dumps and transfers.
• Work on the ground doing many tasks like grading, paving, under ground utilities, brush removal, chainsaw operation, grade setting/checking and culvert installation.
• Operate dozers excavators and graders on multiple wildland fire incidents doing fire suppression as well as fire suppression repair.

• Operate multiple types of equipment completing tasks such as grading, mass excavation, installation of underground utilities and demolition.
• Haul equipment to and from job sites utilizing tilt deck and hydraulic dove tail trailers.
• Work on the ground doing task such as grade checking and setting, paving, installing underground utilities, paving, installing trench shoring and repairing equipment.
• Haul materials to/from jobsites via dump truck, end dump and transfer.

• Conduct engine checks to ensure they are fully stocked and ready for response.
• Respond to vegetation fires on the Hoopa reservations as well as agency assist with the USFS.
• Clean and maintain the facility.

While I was a senior in High School Hoopa Wildland Fire offered a "Basic 32" fire course at the high school for the first time. I was lucky enough to be enrolled and shortly after my graduation and offered a temporary spot with the department for the summer until I started my vocational school at Shasta College.
